Home Cooked Chickpeas

Home cooked chickpeas - soft, buttery and oh so tasty!

I love chick peas and for me they are an important part of increasing the plant based protein in my diet.

I recently invested in a pressure cooker (I bought it second hand, never been used!). Chickpeas and beans cooked at home in a pressure cooker or on the stove are so completely different to those out of a can.

In particular, the home cooked chickpeas are buttery and creamy - utterly different to their hard and sometimes even slimy, canned relations!

So when I have time, I cook a big batch and then freeze them in jars (approx. 240g = 1 can's worth).

I highly recommend giving it a go if you have the time. The beauty of the pressure cooker is that you can just put it on and forget about it rather than having to mind it on the stove.
