Autumn Foraging - Wild Blackberry Compote

Updated: Mar 8, 2021

Fringe benefits of your Autumn walks!

Autumn is such a lovely time to get out into the countryside and enjoy all the beautiful colours, as the leaves turn. Myself and my family love to go foraging for blackberries and it adds a whole new dimension and purpose to your stroll. We used our empty water bottle to collect the berries - very handy!

Making compote could not be easier:

Ingredients:

100g Wild Blackberrys (the rest were eaten on the walk!)

150g Mixed Berries (I used raspberries and strawberries I had in the freezer)

30g Sugar (I used golden caster sugar - just increase or decrease this to taste)

2 Tablespoons water

Method:

Put all the ingredients in a saucepan, bring to the boil and simmer for about 3 to 5 minutes. Leave to cool. Delicious with greek yoghurt or if you prefer, vanilla ice cream.
