Finally I have found a biodegradable detergent that actually gets our clothes clean
After a lot of searching and experimenting, I have finally found a laundry detergent that is environmentally friendly and actually does what it’s supposed to do! Hallelujah!
The brand is called "Bio D" and it is biodegradable, hypoallergenic (my youngest has sensitive skin!), ethically sound with minimal environmental impact. They are also committed to using ingredients that are sustainably sourced ingredients. It is also safe for use in septic tanks and vegan friendly.
This information is based on the packaging - so can we trust it is the question? So, all the reviews I could find online are all positive and I couldn’t find any “green washing” concerns. It also has a “Best Buy” rating on ethicalconsumer.org and has a score of 15.5 out of 20, with only two other detergents scoring higher (neither of which I've come across before). I am very relieved about that as I'm truly sick of trying out rubbish washing powders, liquids and eggs!
It comes in a paper bag but it’s plastic lined (plastic number 7) so it can’t be recycled in Ireland currently. However, if you are based in Dublin, it’s available packaging free in www.thesourcebulkfoods.ie - what a bonus!
